Sarah Mann took up her post as Consul-General Guangzhou in June 2023. She leads the UK government’s engagement in the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan and Jiangxi in South China.

Sarah joined the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in 2008 and has worked on a range of countries and issues including the UN, energy security and human rights.

Her first posting was as Second Secretary in Colombo, Sri Lanka after which she returned to London as Secretary to the FCDO Board of Management in the office of the Permanent Under-Secretary. Most recently Sarah served as British Deputy High Commissioner to Uganda from 2017 to 2020. She has also served in the British High Commission in Fiji and the UK’s Mission to the UN in New York.

Sarah has an undergraduate degree in history from the University of Victoria, British Colombia, and a Masters degree in International Law from SOAS.

Mark is a dynamic and agile CFO for British manufacturing group C2W, a natural intercultural leader with high levels of empathy, over 15 years of leadership experience, and a talent for strategic and operational excellence. 
Mark is from the UK and moved to China in 2005 aged only 20 after finishing his accountancy qualifications, for a gap year, in pursuit of personal and professional growth, and to have his eyes opened to different cultures. That gap year continues...
Mark is advanced in Mandarin Chinese, a fellow member of accounting bodies the AAT, and CIMA & AICPA.
Mark's passion is his social purpose of giving back to the community, his greatest achievement was received in February 2019 becoming an international Peace Award laureate, having his work over the years helping children in need with a local NGO he co-founded and is Chairman of recognised in the Field of Philanthropy. In late 2019 this was further recognized when he was awarded the United Nation's China 2019 Social Impact Award in the Field of Community and Culture.
In early 2023 Mark won the inaugural AAT Excellence Award in the UK highlighting his strong leadership skills and social purpose.
Passionate the British Chamber, having been a member for 13 years and on the ExCo for 5 years, Mark cannot wait to get stuck into this new position, helping British businesses across our region to succeed and is looking forward working closely with the amazing Chamber team and his fellow ExCo members.

Having working & living in Canada, China (including Hong Kong/Taiwan area), Malaysia, New Zealand
and Singapore, Thomas has spent over 23 years in banking sectors and 10 years in talent development business. After working 9 years as Director of Business Operational Risk in Shanghai, he moved to Guangzhou 3 years ago
to start a new career in Retail Banking.

Trevor Lewis has been Deputy Director for Innovation and Industry at the UK Department for International Trade, based at the British Consulate-General Guangzhou since October 2022. This is a China wide role. Immediately prior to this, Trevor was Counsellor and Director for Trade and Investment at the British Embassy in Moscow from March 2019 to July 2022. Before Moscow he was Political Counsellor at the British Embassy in Baghdad. He was also Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, Manila, from August 2011 - July 2015 and Director for Trade and Investment at the British High Commission, Kuala Lumpur from 2007 - 2011. Trevor has also served in London, Shanghai, Dubai, Washington DC, Accra and Brussels.

A an experienced global trade specialist with a specific interest in global trade compliance, logistics and supply chain and using this knowledge to help business implement a range of solutions to enhance their international trade experience.

Prior to this a number of years working in Corporate & Commercial Banking.

Specialism in supporting businesses to build resilience, gain greater visibility and drive efficiency across their whole Supply Chain, focusing on delivering market leading tailored solutions across logistics, regulatory compliance, and the wider supply chain, and working with businesses to support the implementation of these solutions.

As a veteran consultant with a deep understanding of China, I am keen to bring greater understanding and nuance to the increasingly fraught and adversarial relationship between the UK and China at a time of geopolitical uncertainty. I believe that active engagement through a strong trading partnership not only benefits China and the UK economically, but also helps to strengthen the wider political and diplomatic relationship.
