The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong (BritCham) is an membership based organisation in China, helping members with business development through events, networking, introductions and referrals.
Established in 1996, BritCham is one of the most active and influential Chambers in the PRD and has offices in both Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with the ability to serve our members across the
PRD.

Our membership network is comprised of companies operating in a wide range of sectors and industries, including Education, Hospitality, Finance, Hi-tech, Manufacturing, Healthcare and etc. Up to today, BritCham has over 200 members and is growing.

Event Details

The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong is hosting GBA Technology & Innovation Summit 2021 event, which is to be held at Renaissance Shenzhen Bay Hotel on 26 August. This will be a perfect opportunity to hear from key industry experts on their insights in a range of technology related industries and sectors.


The Greater Bay Area Summit is one of the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong's (BritCham Guangdong) flagship events. The event has been held for the past two years in Guangzhou, invited over ten speakers for sharing their insights and welcomed over 100 guests each event, co-branding with media partners with more than 300,000 online and offline exposures.


Through this summit, BritCham Guangdong will establish a platform for tech-related industry members, investors, governments, and so forth in the GBA (i) to hear from key industry professionals on their predictions and outlook for the year ahead across a range of industries and sectors, (ii) to add value to you and your business and to better inform business planning decisions and (iii) to increase awareness amongst our members and business community via sharing insights and predictions.

Jeremy Sargent OBE
Jeremy Sargent OBE is a seasoned China lawyer and entrepreneur with over 20 years' experience living and working in China. He is a fluent Mandarin speaker who completed his first degree in Chinese at Leeds University in the UK. In 2009 Jeremy established "The Happy Monk", a gastro pub concept in Guangzhou in 2009, which has grown to become an award-winning brand in the hospitality industry, with a team of 180 employees operating five busy downtown locations. In 2019 he obtained his executive MBA Degree from a joint programme offered by Columbia University Business School, London Business School and Hong Kong University Business School. In 2012 Jeremy was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his services on behalf of British businesses and legal services in China.

Joseph Smith
Joseph Smith has 22 years experience in China and was the first foreigner from IBM to live and work with Huawei from 1999 to lead Huawei's global transformation. He worked with Huawei for 22 years as VP Global Business Transformation and as consultant to Guo Ping the CEO of Huawei, and Liang Hua the Chairman of Huawei, to lead their globalization and dominance of ICT with current revenues of over USD125BN. Joseph led Huawei's Global Business Transformation PMO which managed every major transformation project in Huawei's history. He was responsible for Business Transformation Methodology, Governance & Transformation alignment with Strategy, Value Realisation, Consultant Management and internal Transformation Training. Projects managed and led by Joseph include: Integrated Product Development (IPD), Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Integrated Financial Services (IFS), Global Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Global Human Resources Management (HRM). Joseph was also responsible for the transformation Public Affairs & Communications Department and Global Government Affairs (PACD) and was responsible for being the 'public face' of Huawei and build relationships with senior visitors from the UK including: British Royalty and Senior Government Cabinet Ministers. Joseph has been working with AI for the last 7 years and has a Patent Pending on a new AI chip architecture for a Hybrid Digital-Analog Zero Instruction Set Computer. Joseph acts as a strategy consultant to several large consultancies including McKinsey, Accenture, Bain, and PwC.

Wing Fong is currently an audit partner of KPMG which she serves as the Head of Technology and Life Science of Southern China Region and the Capital Market Group Partner of KPMG China. Equipped with ample experiences, Wing is familiar with the capital market regulations of Hong Kong, the United States and Chinese Mainland ("PRC") capital markets with in depth understanding of the PRC GAAP, Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards. Equipped with more than 20 years of audit experiences, Wing had accumulated extensive professional and industrial experiences by leading audit engagements for local and multinational businesses in Hong Kong and PRC across various sectors including life science technology, electronics, IT services and telecommunications, E-commerce and others. Following her leadership on various A Share / Hong Kong IPOs and her familiarity with the capital market requirements, Wing had successfully assisted Nayuki Holdings Limited (HK.2150), Mobvista (HK.1860) and Friendtimes (HK.6820) in their listings in the Mainboard of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. She also assisted Dynagreen (HK.1330) in their dual listing plan for A Share (SH.601330) in the PRC capital market as well. Furthermore, she added another success story as the lead audit partner to Chipscreen Biosciences (A Share) which is the first of its kind to be listed under The Science and Technology Innovation Board. On top of that, she is also the current lead partner for MGI Tech which had filed their A Share IPO submission in early 2021. Apart from the capital market experiences, Wing plays considerably important role as the Asia Pacific regional lead partner in the coordination of various cross boarder and multinational audit and advisory engagements across the Asia Pacific region.

Huiyu Li, graduated from Peking University and Stanford University, is currently the director of business development, Zhixin International School. He is responsible for international cooperation, market and enrollment, teaching product design and strategic analysis. Zhixin International School enjoys good teaching quality and healthy operations, with 97% of previous graduates successfully applying for the top 50 universities in the United States and across the world. In 2017, Li joined TAL, a co-founded kids coding education brand “CodeMonkey”, which has the health and financial health of courses and products that lead the subdivision of the track. Li presided over the design of CodeMonkey programming course products, created a twelve-level system, and developed more than 200 courses. Li participated in the framework construction of the “The Youth Artificial Intelligence Coding Level Test”, established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and People's Posts and Telecommunications Press. In 2020, Li joined ByteDance as an educational business strategy analyst, responsible for the construction of financial models, the improvement of the conversion rate of the tutor team and also the development of the promotion and performance appraisal plan.

Musheer is the Founder & Managing Director of FinStep Asia, which is building Asia’s next generation of businesses and providing advisory on Fintech & Digital ecosystems in Asia. Musheer is one of the main contributors in building the Fintech ecosystem in Hong Kong as the Co-Founder of Fintech Association of Hong Kong, having led the Association as inaugural General Manager in its first 2 years. He has over 16 years of extensive experience in financial services and technology, having been a global markets trader for a decade, and a management consultant following his MBA from University of Hong Kong and London Business School. Sherry Pan has extensive experience in international trade and marketing. She has helped many British tech business to expand their footprint to China and supported high profile Chinese tech firms investing in the UK since 2013. She oversees DIT’s tech strategy in the China market and is committed to building a closer UK-China tech partnership. Prior to that, Sherry worked for several international creative industry companies and institutions and received her master's degree from the University of Leeds.

Following the completion of a PhD degree in Business and Management from the University of Manchester in 2014, Penny has joined the University of Central Lancashire as a Lecturer. Penny is currently working at UCLan as an Associate Professor in Innovation and Enterprise. Penny is also the General Manager of UCLan Technology (Shenzhen) Ltd. which is wholly owned by the University of Central Lancashire. Penny is overseeing the university incubator and acceleration in China, which has over 500 start-ups. Penny has been helping individuals especially women and children to make changes and do personal development and improvement in the past seven years. Penny initiated the Youth Incubation Programme in Shenzhen, China, which aims to create the next generation of innovators and changemakers.

Ivy Liang
Ivy obtained her master’s degree from City University of Hong Kong, as well as Southwest University of Political Science and Law, which equipped her with the horizon of both civil law and common law. Ivy has very extensive and practical experience of all aspects of the judicial system in Mainland China, and understands the operations of the administrative organs from all levels well. Ivy joins Gowling WLG from her former role as presiding judge in the Chinese court, where she also served as the deputy director of its IP division. She has worked in the judiciary for more than 15 years and has experience in all areas of contentious IP matters, with a particular focus on trademark, anti-counterfeiting, unfair competition and patent. Ivy is now the chair of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Working Group within the European Union Chamber of Commerce (South China chapter). She provides clients with strategic advice on IP enforcement and IP company arrangement.

Duncan Harrison heads up the Asia Pacific region for the international recruitment firm, Hamlyn Williams. Originating from the UK and majoring in Political Science from the University of East Anglia, Duncan has 15 years of working in the recruitment industry in Asia. Prior to relocating to Shenzhen to join Hamlyn Williams, Duncan was the leader of the Finance & Accounting team in Tokyo for a large multinational recruitment firm before then heading up the Korean office of the same firm where he helped grow the office from 5 to 60 employees during his tenure. Duncan has a very extensive knowledge of the Asian culture and the recruitment markets in both Japan and South Korea as well as China. In every market he has worked, Duncan has managed large Technology recruitment teams where his team's clients have ranged from start-ups going through their first rounds of funding through to large global multinationals and has witnessed firsthand the rapid pace of Technology innovation impacting the hiring needs and requirements of his clients.With a strong understanding of Asian cultural and business practices, he has managed and grown diverse Tech recruitment teams and assisted hundreds of Tech candidates with their career changes.

After graduation, Penn joined an international bank with a focus on bridging IT and the business in this fast-pace moving technology landscape. Currently serving as the IT risk & control officer in the organisation, Penn is now overseeing more than 70 applications across 2 different business departments, focusing upon in audit/regulatory related issues, IT service management and IT security. Penn has also been heavily involved in Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, especially in the area of gender equality. Dr Tsui previously worked as a management consultant to improve the productivity of NHS hospitals, generating £20M productivity saving in a year for a group of hospitals across the South East of England. Before founding Medwise.ai, Dr Tsui was a clinical product manager at Huma, a remote patient monitoring scale-up with partners such as Apple and Tencent AI Lab.
